Vehicle For Creativity
Cars transport us without knowledge.
Cars don’t need to understand us or our destination to transport us efficiently. And it’s the same when we look to help other people channel their creativity.
Another analogy exists within the context of therapy. The therapist’s steadfast silence is a crucial step in the unravelling of their patient’s mind. In fact, it’s most likely because of this quiet and staged space that the being can gain greater perspective, experiencing themselves from a semi-objective point of view, through the mere presence of another.
On the surface, this sounds stupidly simple, just listen to another person and remain silent, allow them to arrive at their own conclusion. But ask yourself, how often are you provided free space to think out loud without someone interjecting, offering their own opinion, or stating some kind of preconceived absolute? And how often do you provide such space for others?
This week, become a vehicle for another person’s creativity. If they come to you seeking help with a problem, personal or creative, simply be a vehicle for their mind’s way of working. Notice what the person discovers on their own terms simply by granting them the space to do so. It may change how you seek your own answers.
