This is Nothing Serious

Dearest Being,

This is Nothing Serious.

I have become increasingly aware that my craving to know what is right from wrong is in no way connected to any pursuit of truth. And to accept this means to accept a terrifying bewilderment: I am not now what I sense somehow I am meant to be, should be, want to be. I do not know what I feel at the bottom of my heart. And perhaps, this is the beginning of some kind of personal wisdom. If I can just leave the wound open, stop distracting myself from its emptiness and instead wait in it, then maybe I can heal from the inside out.

I want to earn my understanding. I want to work for truth. I want to devote my life to a simultaneous uncovering and expressing of what it is I am, my being, my consciousness. I want to work for myself and never be labeled as anything other than alive. I never want to be told what to do. I never want answers.

This is the unemployed man’s motto, I know. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s an irrelevant one.

What matters is the intention, in art and in life. All we have is our mind and how we choose to share it. Ultimately, it comes down to our relationship with the surrounding cosmos. Art, whether we create it or absorb it, is about our personal connection to the thing. Because what else is there? Yes, we can hope that our ideas resonate with other human beings, often beautiful moments arise from such realities, but we can’t begin here. The result is out of our control. We have to strive for personal truth in the things we create. We have to find an honest piece of our humanity and expose it. Because in the end, this is what will resonate.

Incorporating myself as a brand, a name, a creative entity, a business, I felt there was a chance to evaluate purpose in an objective way. What does this business do? What are its morals? What is its growth strategy? Nothing Serious is a heart, a soul, a consciousness, a cosmos. It aims to curate ideas that provoke a new way of looking closer, laughing harder, thinking deeper. Above all, it is a space that takes the nothing seriously.

Don’t lose what it is you are. Don’t question what it is you find funny. Don’t have opinions. Don’t attach yourself to stances. Be always flowing, constantly questioning, ever-updating. Focus on your intention and be as honest with yourself as possible. Love is always the goal. So really try with all your might to leave that unfulfilled wound open. For the process is the point. The truth lies in the not knowing.

The Art is in the Idea.

NOTHING SERIOUS
