CodeSpeak

Cosmic Communqiués from Curtis Winkelmann

This is CodeSpeak.

CodeSpeak is a collection of cosmic communiqués from Curtis Winkelmann formed into limited edition large-scale aluminium artworks.

These are half-whispered quarter truths used by new age revolutionaries in the war against total understanding. Concentrated ideas from the gaps drip fed straight from the tap of Nothing Serious.

It’s weird wisdom from the unknown underground movements of Irish artistry that operate beyond branding at the outer-core of the nation’s creative spirit. No corporate events sponsored by massive conglomerates to provide platforms to people with so little to speak that hasn’t already been spoken.

These are the even-sized words of the anti-sense-makers who exist island-level isolated and have zero need for the false community of non-radical type hype-beasts who claim dominion over the well-dressed quarter-zipped new age Dublin dudes.

Don’t understand it. Help your fellow heads to not understand it too, and learn to love it for this refreshed reason and share it far away for this refreshed reason. Invite the ferocious feedback of complete confusion. Don’t dumb the magic down to a dull grey nub by immediately mulching it all into product. Don’t cultivate a relationship with your fans. Don’t speak to your audience directly. Don’t put your face out there. Don’t construct a network. Be everything else a human can be in times when you can’t really be anything at all without eventually becoming everything else. Fight the invisible current of algorithmic subculture. Autonomy Tourniquets. Email junk folders. True celebrity. Monetise mind over art and refuse to conflate modern advertising for self-respect suicide.

They want us all filed down into sick straight lines looking all glum-like while we suck on some sweet summertime lollipops like a couple of longtime losers lost lovingly in each other’s lips. The signs are all around us: Piss in here. Wash your hands. Exit to the left. Have a nice death.

Drawn from influences old and new, the poetry of Bukowski, the concepts of George Carlin, the tags of Basquiat and Al Diaz, etc. CodeSpeak focuses on where the art is in the idea. There’s something about the designed permanence of a sign that these words engage, calling into question what grand causes we as a species choose to take seriously.

These works will be exhibited at some location on the 20th of June in the Year 2026.
